How the scoring works, where the data comes from, and what we do with it.

The StateScore is a single number from 0 to 100 describing the overall state of a website. It combines three vitals — Pulse (uptime, 40%), Speed (performance, 35%) and Visibility (SEO, 25%). Each vital is the weighted average of its own checklist, where a passing check earns full credit, a warning earns half, and a failing check earns none.

A check is skipped when it genuinely cannot be measured — for example image alt text on a page with no images, or Core Web Vitals when Google's Lighthouse service is unavailable. Skipped checks are excluded from the score entirely rather than counted as failures, so the number you see is always honest.

LCP, CLS and TBT are measured by Google Lighthouse through the PageSpeed Insights API, because they require a real browser rendering the page. The other seven performance checks are measured directly by our own servers using the actual HTTP response.

Scan results are cached for 15 minutes so repeat scans are instant, then deleted. We never publish, index or share the URLs you scan. Uptime monitors you register are stored until you remove them.

We render the page in a real browser and store the image for an hour. This matters because a site can return a perfectly healthy HTTP 200 while showing a database error, a blank page or an expired-domain notice. The screenshot is the proof of what visitors actually see.

Every five minutes by default, by a background worker. Each check records the status code and response time, and the last 30 days of history feed the uptime percentage shown on your dashboard.

Every tool picks its own checks and weights. We deliberately keep ten checks per tool, weighted by real-world impact, so the score is easy to reason about. Use the score to track your own progress over time rather than to compare against unrelated tools.

No. We can only reach publicly available URLs, and we deliberately refuse to connect to private, loopback or internal network addresses for security reasons.
