By using WebsiteState you agree to the terms below. They are short on purpose.

1. What the service is

WebsiteState provides free automated tests that measure the performance, search-engine visibility and availability of publicly accessible websites, and reports the results as a score with suggested improvements.

2. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• use the service to test a website you neither own nor have permission to test, where doing so would breach any law or that site's own terms;
• use it as a component of a denial-of-service attack, a vulnerability scan or any other attack against a third party;
• attempt to bypass our rate limits (currently 20 scans per 5 minutes per address) or the limit of 10 monitors per visitor;
• scrape, resell or redistribute our results as your own product;
• attempt to use the tools against private, internal or loopback network addresses. These requests are refused automatically.

We may block any address that abuses the service, without notice.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

The service is provided “as is”, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Results are a point-in-time measurement taken from our servers' network location. They can legitimately differ from other tools, from your own browser and from a later run of our own tool — network conditions, CDN edge nodes, caching and A/B tests all affect what a page returns. Scores are guidance for prioritising work, not a guarantee of any outcome, including search rankings or revenue.

4. Third-party services

Some measurements rely on third-party services, notably Google PageSpeed Insights for Core Web Vitals and an external renderer for screenshots. We do not control their availability or accuracy, and checks that depend on them may be reported as untested at any time.

5. Availability

We make no uptime commitment for this service and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it — including individual checks, the scoring weights and the monitoring feature — at any time. Registered monitors and their history may be deleted as part of such a change.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for any loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — this service or from any action you take based on its results.

7. Intellectual property

The WebsiteState name, the StateScore methodology and the site's design and code remain ours. You are free to use, quote and publish the results of scans you run on your own websites.

8. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
